A good indication that the diaphragms are torn or damaged is if you notice a milky grey color in the oil sight glass. This most likely indicates your diaphragms are damaged and need to be replaced. Stop running the pump and replace the diaphragms as soon as possible. Running a diaphragm pump with torn diaphragms can cause serious damage to the pump. It is always a good idea to have a repair kit handy in the event of diaphragm damage to keep your operation on schedule. It is recommended to replace diaphragms every 3 months or 500 hours of use if the pump is in constant use to keep it reliable in the field.
